Stephen Curry Agrees to One-Year, $62.6M Extension with Golden State Warriors

Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry has reportedly agreed to a one-year, $62.6 million extension, securing his spot with the team through the 2026-27 season. The deal, confirmed by Curry’s agent, Jeff Austin, comes as Curry continues to build on his legacy as one of the greatest players in NBA history.

Curry’s Extension and the “Over-38 Rule”

The 36-year-old sharpshooter had two years remaining on his four-year, $215.4 million contract signed in 2021. However, due to the NBA’s “over-38 rule”, Curry was only eligible for a one-year extension this offseason, as he will turn 38 during the contract’s life on March 14, 2026.

A Legendary Career

Curry’s storied career includes 10 All-Star appearances, four NBA championships, and two NBA MVP awards. He has also earned the title of two-time scoring champion, and his stats from the 2023-24 season highlight his continued excellence, with averages of 26.4 points, 5.1 assists, and 4.5 rebounds over 74 games.

Beyond his personal accolades, Curry has firmly cemented his place in the NBA record books. He is the league’s all-time leader in 3-point field goals made, with 3,747. Additionally, Curry holds numerous franchise records with Golden State, including:

  • Points: 23,668
  • Assists: 6,119
  • Steals: 1,473
  • Games Played: 956

What’s Next for Curry and the Warriors?

As Curry enters his 16th season, fans and analysts alike are eager to see how the Warriors will continue to build around their franchise player. With this extension, Golden State is betting on Curry’s leadership and performance as they aim for another championship run in the coming years.
